Home About

Why we started this

Homes need constant attention. Paint fades. Gutters fill. Decks gray out and boards loosen. In Vermont, the weather does in one winter what takes five years anywhere else.

Most homeowners end up with a folder full of contractors. A painter who does okay work but disappears in July. A handyman who handles trim but not siding. A power-washing guy who only picks up on Tuesdays.

We started Community Works to be the one name on that list. Three divisions. One crew you recognize. One punch list, handled.

How we run a job

Every project gets a lead who has been doing this work for decades, paired with trained Vermonters who show up on time and give a damn. Master craftsmen set the standard. The rest of the crew meets it.

Every estimate is written down, priced in three tiers, and yours to keep. Every workday ends with a short photo update in your inbox. Every project ends with a walkthrough where you tell us what you see, not the other way around.

What we believe

The prep is the project. A great paint job looks great in ten years, not ten days. Most of our time on site is sanding, scraping, caulking, and masking. That’s the craft.

Transparent pricing, always. Three tiers on every proposal. You see what you’re getting and what you’re skipping. No surprise line items on the invoice.

One team for the whole house. Painting fed carpentry work, which fed cleaning work, which fed more painting. It made no sense to send three companies. So we didn’t.

Local accountability. Background-checked. Licensed. Insured in Vermont. If it’s wrong, we’re the ones who come back and fix it.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Prep Is the Project.

Our lead painter has 25 years in the trade and spends most of his time on the parts you can’t see. Scraping, sanding, caulking, masking. A paint job skipping prep looks fine for a season and peels by year two. We’d rather spend an extra day on setup than come back to redo it.

We Run the Business So Crews Can Run the Job.

Our painters and carpenters don’t chase leads, write estimates, or send invoices. That all happens at the office. When the crew pulls up to your house, they’re thinking about your siding, not their Tuesday schedule. You get faster quotes, tighter projects, and people on site who want to be there.

No Surprises on the Invoice.

Every estimate is written down and priced in three tiers before a drop of paint hits the wall. You see what’s included, what’s not, and what an upgrade costs. Daily photo updates while we work. References from real homeowners in your town when you ask.

We Know What Vermont Does to a House.

Ice dams rip off gutters. Freeze-thaw loosens deck boards. Road salt eats the bottom foot of any exterior paint job. Our crews live here and have worked through enough Vermont winters to know which materials hold up on Route 7 and which ones don’t make it to March.

Our Team

Community Works was founded on a simple observation: most skilled tradespeople are exceptional at their craft but struggle with the business side — marketing, quoting, invoicing, following up, managing their reputation. The result is that Vermont homeowners often can’t find reliable contractors, and great tradespeople often can’t find consistent work. We built Community Works to solve both problems.
